Street photography fascinates me. I’m not usually a very outgoing person, but taking other people’s photos in public means you have to develop a friendly demeanor pretty quick. You also learn to just be quick and stealthy. Last week in Portland, I set up on the fountain at the Saturday Market and just started shooting anyone who walked by who looked interesting. This kid just looked great. The shot’s not in perfect focus, but if anything, I think it helps here.
HDR Fishing Boats of Newport
Here’s a set of single-shot HDR images from the fishing boats docked in Newport. The multi-exposures weren’t turning out right, but these look not bad. I really like the HDR effect, but I am going to try not to over-use it.

Surprisingly, the weekend was a bust for new photography, so here’s one from Rocky Mountain National Park last week.
The reason the weekend was a bust was that we stayed up too late every night for me to get up early enough to go and and shoot. I made it out Saturday, but in the aftermath of the big storm, there was very little to photograph.

I’ve been wanting to play around with HDR for a while now. The problem is, my camera doesn’t do exposure bracketing very well, and the landscapes around here just don’t seem to lend themselves very well to the format. This turned out with a somewhat neat effect, but I think I can do better with a bit more experimentation.
