Yellowstone 11: Sunrise over Southern Yellowstone

28 Jun 2010

Due to the weather, this is my only sunrise shot from the trip, sadly.  I’m not sure it really captures the magnificence of the actual site, but I did my best.

Nice! I haven’t been to Yellowstone in years. This makes me want to go back.

It would be well worth the trip, I think. I am hoping to return in September.

I have to agree with Brenda. It’s been too many years since I’ve been there, and I’m only 400 miles away, give or take. This sequence of Yellowstone posts definitely has me itching to return.

I’m thinking Craters of the Moon would also provide some nice sunrise/sunset shots.

    I sense a road trip.

Craters of the Moon? I’m not familiar with that.

Craters of the Moon National Monument is a massive lava terrain with various cones, craters, lava tubes, and several types of lava, different light will provide blues, greens, blacks, and so on from the iridescence in some of the lava. It’s a pretty stark terrain covering a large area. It’s on highway 20/26 in east Idaho, about 15 miles southwest of Arco. Check it out on Google Maps, especially with the satellite photos.

It’s altogether different from Yellowstone. Where Yellowstone gives you a general sense of beauty and nature, Craters gives you a sense of stark beauty. IMHO, of course.

That sounds great! I will have to check it out.

And by “did my best” you actually mean that you completely, totally rocked it out…._right_? Right. ‘Cause you did.

Well, I did what I could to work with what Mother Nature gave me. I always rock out. ;)
