I’m sure you’ve heard the news that the company running LiveJournal has a non-technical skeleton crew manning the ship right now. A stiff breeze could take the whole thing down in that situation. Welcome to the Bush Economy! We may be getting rid of the man, but his effects shall be felt for years to come.
Anyway, The vast majority of my Blog readers are on LJ. Do me a favor? Go here: http://www.jeremiahtolbert.com/blog/
And bookmark my page so you can find me in a post-LJ world should you need to? Coming up soon, I’m going to try and make a post for LJ folks on RSS feed readers like Google Reader so that you can read all ofyour former LJ friends in one place should the unthinkable happen. In the mean time, it might not be a bad idea to download the XML files for all your posts in LJ in case you need to migrate to another service.
If you’re a member of the F&SF community from LJ and you’re relocating to new digs, drop me a line and I’ll post an announcement here about your move. I’ll keep an updated list of LJ handles. Hopefully this won’t be necessary, but if it is, I want to do something to help preserve the community.

As I twittered, more info (press release) from LJ Inc.

I’ve backed up my account (manmela) but not planning to move due to having a permanent account
The real blinking red light in that announcement: the new head of the shop is the VP in charge of finance and administration. Whenever that happens, it means that things are really desperate.
I personally use ScribeFire in FireFox to automatically send all my posts to both LJ and Blogger. I figure if both of them die, it’s because there is no longer reliably delivered electric current on Earth.
Yeah, that was my thought too, the VP.
Re Blogger and LJ both, hilarious, and true probably.
