There are orioles everywhere out here. I had no idea. As a kid growing up in Kansas, I read about them but they were not native to the area. I was always fascinated by their basket nests that I saw in books. I’d seen the basket nests in the trees this spring for the first time and suspected that they were made by orioles, but it took a park display to prove to me.

The lighting in this one isn’t perfect, but I really liked the pose. And that brilliant orage is such a lovely color. Taken about 20 minutes after dawn.
