The trees of Vedawoo are twisted and gnarled by the high winds at that altitude much of the year. Not much grows up here, but what does is very hardy.

In the spring, however, the most beautiful wildflowers bloom up here in the shade of the rocks, if enough rain falls. It’s a magical place in some ways. There’s little wildlife to be seen, but signs of it everywhere. Porcupines, foxes, and elk are known to frequent the area. A man was attacked by a grizzly bear five miles from this spot to the west, a few years ago.
